What Is Tyvek? The Material Behind Mighty Wallet

Tyvek looks like paper at first glance. That is part of what makes it so surprising.

Paper is made from pulp fibers. Tyvek is made from synthetic polyethylene fibers that are spun, laid down, and bonded into a strong nonwoven sheet. That structure gives it a rare combination of properties: it feels light and thin, but it resists tearing and handles daily wear far better than ordinary paper.

This does not mean a wallet should be treated like scuba gear. It means the material is far more forgiving than ordinary paper and better suited for daily carry.
